DUDE!!!

yes there's snow in rose valley. and i hiked the hills covered in it...TWICE!! it was too much fun braving the cold and risking all, just for two days of brutal hiking for the sheer love of it. caitlin, anna, you guys are troopers! you're coming with us friday...

oh, friday: scott and i heard tales of a huge and mysterious hot spring preceding the top falls at the top of the mountain. not too bad of a walk. lemme know whoever is interested. we'll be leaving friday morning.

after 3 miles on a bike, 2 on foot, 350 vertical feet negotiated, and 200+ acres of pure wholesome geological goodness, tuesday turned out to be a pretty good day. scooter and i went up to Pueblos Blanca in Rose Valley and had one hell of a time. people, i cannot stress to you the sheer beauty of seeing frost on the ground and glass ice in the creek, all 1/2 mile from sandstone boulders, each the size of a city block. until you've been to a natural sandstone field, you haven't seen california. once you get to the field, the trail itself is naturally etched out of sandstone. i cannot describe what its like to stand on one stone plateu that stretches out for a mile each way. and it's breathtaking to sit on one single rock 350 feet in the air. and i found some 500,000-to-1,000,000+ year-old fossils of clam and abalone.

i'm making the call: to all ojai explorers, i am planing a Saturday trip up to Pueblos Blanca for the day to run around and check out what we haven't seen yet. lemme know if youre coming.

the one time i DON'T go 120, i get tagged for speeding. and just for doubly funness i got two tickets for the price of one (didn't have insurance yet). i wish i'd get tagged for something worth getting tagged for.

life...as usual...

the roof is never empty; the 16-month curse has been lifted; E is now--surprisingly--on my list of things i've tried; car hasn't fallen apart on me yet; haven't talked to ellen in months, which is getting a little scary; work is picking up (worked on eagles, def leppard, U2); discovered i clinically have cronic depression (woot.); heart arythmia isn't improving; stitches are way overdue; still broke; need to go on a group hike.

seriously, though. this is what i've been trying to become ever since i became a professional stage hand. i get to be among the elite in my local, i get one of the most interesting jobs for a 20 year old (i.e. strapped into a harness, dangling about 150 feet in the air, MAYBE with a safety line, doing things that people's lives may very well depend on), and i'd get around 35/hr, working maybe 8- to 16-hour days for 3 to 5 days a week. this will get me my member's card before next summer!!! i'll have my lifetime career--which will make damn good money, but that's not why i do it--all set and ready to go before i'm old enough to drink!

...then it's on to feature films...

ahh...working with renowned film-makers and celebrities, making hundreds of thousands, traveling to exotic places for weeks and even months on end, the world becoming my office...

oh...by the way, people...i'm single.
